Some New Pictures Sent to us from Niklas's mom Michaela. Niklas, yes this is how they spell it in Austria, is the little boy beating Susie Michi and I to the finish Line in this Drill. Below we have the Group on the first day going through the pain of warming up and skating slow with technique. Then the Real leg burner power exercises "AUSSEN DOWN"  oopss Butts Down legs should hurt not back.  Then Susie and Niklas. More to come  or check out Jays Face book.
There were over 25 participants for this first time event in this country of this style. Before the first day was even finished and with three more days to be skated the athletes of all ages and skill levels were asking when this was going to be happening again. Sara Rehklau and Father Chris were the lone Americans at this event with the rest of the participants being of Austrian decent. There were Austrian World team members training with  those who hoped to be at that level some day. There were a trio of boys who really did not know how fast they were, that if they keep doing what they are doing one would expect to see them competing someday at a World or Olympic event in our sport for their country.  Tobias, David and Nikolas seemed like they lived on their skates though from time to time one or two of them would be a bit how would you say it "LAZY", though when given the right motivation they were totally different ....ATHLETES. Suzi and Michi (meaning in USA Mickey) though he was called him Michi at this event, minus the gan (Michigan) did the translation for those who could not keep up with Coach Jay's quick explanations and demonstrations of all the drills. The Wolverine Clap and an appreciation for our new president were things brought to the Americans by the Austrians. Next time should be even more fun :)~
